Most Common Household Appliances that are Worth Scrapping

The metal recycling industry has been very useful for a lot of businesses due to its associated benefits. For one, it has provided significant savings when it comes to energy and raw metal materials. It has also helped in minimising harmful emissions to the environment thanks to the eco-friendly processes that are involved in recycling scrap metal products.

And with the continuous support towards the said industry, the overall supply of metal all over the world is kept at an optimum level. The abundance of reprocessed metal materials allows manufacturing, electronics, and other businesses to continue their production and assembly.

Recycling Scrap Metal Products

The whole metal recycling industry can thrive continuously if the main sources of scrap metals can be identified fully. To date, there are two types of metals that can be gathered and recycled. These metal types are ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Ferrous metals are metals that are comprised of iron element, allowing them to obtain magnetic properties. Some types of ferrous metals include mild steel, carbon steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and wrought iron. These metal materials have been very useful in the construction industry due to their tensile strength and durability. Non-ferrous metals, on the other hand, are metals that do not maximise iron. Some examples of non-ferrous metals include aluminium, brass, bronze, gold, silver, and tin. Many businesses utilise these metals since they are durable and malleable.

As for metal recycling centres, they mostly obtain metal products from old cars, soda cans, and tin cans. They also get scrap metals from office supplies, furniture pieces, fixtures, and plumbing elements.

Scrap Metals from Appliances

Another great source of scrap metals that recycling centres often turn to is household appliances. There are a lot of household appliances that are made from metal materials, especially their internal components and external covering. Some of the most common household appliances that can be recycled include dishwashers, stoves, dryers, refrigerators, water heaters, and washing machines.

What makes the aforementioned household appliances worth recycling is that they are mostly made from aluminium and copper parts that are often used by a lot of manufacturing businesses. It is often recommended to only bring the useable metal components to the recycling centres as some of them do not truly recycle white goods or large household items.

Appliances that have a high volume of plastic or manmade components, alternatively, are not recommended to be recycled since they take a lot of time just to extract the useful components. Some appliances that are not great for recycling include microwaves, toasters, and mixers.
